Studying Theatre and Performance prepares students for careers in:

  • Making Performance
  • Producing and Directing
  • Script Writing
  • Arts Management and Administration
  • Communications and Journalism
  • Reviewing Art and Theatre
  • Event Management and Publicity
  • Teaching Drama in Secondary Schools
  • Education and Research

Our graduates have gone on to become award-winning artists, working with theatre companies and production venues around Sydney and beyond. They are working as theatre-makers and performers, as directors, dramaturgs and programmers, in education and administration.

We have graduates teaching drama in high schools, and working in youth theatres, and in training academies. We have graduates working as creative artists – creating opportunities to make performance, with ensembles of artists, in community settings, in theatres, galleries and exhibition spaces. And we have graduates who are writing the scripts, creating the performances, and staging the events that feed into media production across all distribution platforms.

Wherever they work, all of our graduates have acquired transferable skills in creative thinking and performance design, problem solving and effective communication, critical analysis and empathetic engagement – the kind of skills that are very much in demand across all sectors of the arts and information economy.
