Internships

Work Integrated Learning

Work integrated learning (WIL) refers to work learning experiences undertaken by students as part of their program of study. WIL at UNSW must be:

• Embedded in a course and have an assigned unit of credit value; and/or

• A program requirement for those professions that require a minimum level of work experience to receive accreditation.

The School of the Arts and Media run seven WIL courses to provide industry-engaged learning through internship opportunities with relevant industry hosts.

If you have any questions please contact the FASS WIL Unit on 9385 8125 or FASS-WIL@unsw.edu.au.

Securing an Internship

Apart from ARTS3013 Performing Arts Industry Experience, all other Internships for Arts & Media are initiated and sourced by students. This means you must have secured your own internship before applying to enrol in these courses.

Finding a Host Organisation

The best place to start is to begin by undertaking some research into the particular area of the industry that you would like to complete your internship.

A list of host organisations and opportunities can be accessed via Moodle. Please use the key 2018S1SAM to access the Moodle site.

The SAM Internships Newsletter has information about opportunities and comes out on a regular basis. If you are not a subscriber, but would like to be, please email sam@unsw.edu.au

You may also find some ideas at UNSW Careers and Employment

Media Internships are also regularly advertised on Zoom, Seek, CareerOne and other specialist media career websites.
